On the Occasion of European Heritage Days the Exhibition "Bulgaria and Mosaics" will Be Hosted at an International Forum in Bratsigovo
The exhibition "Bulgaria and Mosaics" will be one of the main events at the fourth edition of the International Forum "Bratsigovo – The Stone Stream of Time," which will take place from September 12 to 14, 2024, in the town of Bratsigovo. This initiative is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria and is part of the national program for the celebration of the European Heritage Days 2024.
The exhibition "Bulgaria and Mosaics”, part of the program “Travelling Expositions” of the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria is realized in 2023 by the Balkan Heritage Foundation in collaboration with Bulgarian museums, non-profit organizations, and experts in the fields of art history and archaeology. The exhibition aims to showcase the rich and diverse mosaic heritage of Bulgaria through selected details from ancient, medieval, and contemporary mosaics, as well as to highlight Bulgaria's connection with the preservation and study of mosaic heritage in Southeast Europe.
The forum's program includes a rich palette of events, with the first day dedicated to official discussions and presentations, concluding with a concert by the visiting Sardinian choir "Tiskali." The second day will feature professional lectures and examples of collaborative work between archaeologists, architects, engineers, and restorers, ending with a grand concert by the "Bulgare" Ensemble. The third day will focus on mosaics and will include lectures, a practical workshop, a children's architectural workshop-competition "Stone Paintings," and will conclude with the Folklore Musical and Culinary Festival "Taste of Traditions."
The forum in Bratsigovo is officially included in the National Calendar of Events for the European Heritage Days 2024, which this year will be held under the motto "Heritage of Routes, Networks, and Connections." Once again, Bulgaria will join the initiative with over 200 events taking place across the country throughout the month of September.
The forum "Bratsigovo – The Stone Stream of Time" is organized with the support of the Chamber of Architects in Bulgaria, the Chamber of Builders in Bulgaria, the Municipality of Bratsigovo, and Confindustria Bulgaria, with co-organizers including the Embassy of Italy, the Italian Cultural Institute, and the Italian Trade Agency. Among the official partners of the event are the National History Museum, the Regional History Museum – Pazardzhik, the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, the National Association of Municipalities, and other organizations.
