Participation of the State Cultural Institute in the celebration of the International Day of Holocaust Victims

January 27 has been declared by the United Nations as the International Day in which we pay tribute to the memory of
millions of people perished in the years of the Holocaust. On this occasion, on January 26, 2023 in

Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Gabriel welcomed diplomats,
people's representatives, guests from numerous state institutions and members of the public. In his own
In her speech, Mrs. Gabriel emphasized the determination of our society to preserve the memory of the innocent
victims and to oppose manifestations of anti-Semitism. The guests were also addressed by H.E.
Mr. Yosef Levi Safari, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel and
the chairman of the Organization of Jews in Bulgaria "Shalom" Dr. Alexander Oskar.
Part of the event was the presentation of the exhibition of eleven contemporary authors
"Memory and Posters". The exhibition was realized by the State Cultural Institute at
The Minister of Foreign Affairs in conjunction with the International Triennial of the Stage Poster -
Sofia and is dedicated to the theme of the memory of the catastrophe of the Holocaust, the history of
the salvation of the Bulgarian Jews. In the words of Mrs. Maria Gabriel: "The exhibition will allow
as present and future generations to preserve the lessons of history."
The poster collection was created within a project under the Bilateral Fund of the Norwegian
financial mechanism. In January, it was presented at the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Prague.
A presentation is coming up at the "Dimitar Peshev House-Museum" in Kyustendil, it is being prepared
presentation in Brussels and in Strasbourg.
