THE CELEBRATION OF THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF BULGARIA'S MEMBERSHIP IN THE INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF FRANCOPHONIE STARTS WITH THE POSTER EXHIBITION

28/02/23

In the month of Francophonie and on the occasion of 30 years of Bulgaria's full membership in the International Organization of the Francophonie, at the invitation of the State Institute for Culture, the poster exhibition "Molière without Borders" is visiting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will be available for viewing until the end of April 2023.

The collection "Molière without Borders", created by the International Triennial of Stage Poster - Sofia, brings together over 35 Bulgarian and foreign posters. Some of them are created specifically for this project, and others are part of the rich fund of the Triennial. Works by some of the most influential Bulgarian and foreign masters of the poster art are included, such as: Asen Stareishinski, Stefan Despodov, Georgi Yankov (Bulgaria), Stefan Bundi (Switzerland), Tomasz Boguslawski and Piotr Depta (Poland), Vladimir Terentiev and Yuri Toreev (Belarus) and others.

In its desire to provoke a wide range of young Bulgarian poster artists, the International Triennial turns to five well-established contemporary authors (participants and winners of awards from the Triennial): Alexandra Gogova, Dimitar Traichev, Kapka Kaneva, Kostadin Otonov, and Christopher Krastev, who, as mentors, created posters and attracted their colleagues and alumni as participants. In this way, the project also included works by very young artists as students and pupils from art schools and academies in Sofia, Plovdiv, and Varna.

The exhibition "Molière without Borders" is an open project that grows over time. The initiative started back in 2017 and was originally dedicated to the 395th anniversary of the birth of the French playwright Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, known by his stage name Moliere, who became the personification of the French language. The idea of the organizers is that the exhibition will continue to inhabit the digital and real environment in different forms, showing how modern and provocative the interpretations of Molière's universal messages are.

In 2022, on the 400th anniversary of Molière's birth, the International Triennial of Stage Poster - Sofia in partnership with the State Institute for Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the French Institute presented in online format the project "Molière without Borders", dedicated to the work of the great playwright and master of comedy.
