Bulgarian Participation in This Year's Edition of the "European-Chinese International Literary Festival"
Vladimir Poleganov is a Bulgarian writer, translator and screenwriter who represents our country at this year's edition of the European-Chinese International Literary Festival. He is the author of a short story collection, The Deconstruction of Thomas S (published in 2013 by St. Kliment Ohridski University Press) and a Helikon Award-winning novel, The Other Dream (2016, Colibri). for the best fiction book of the year for 2017. His stories have been published in various literary magazines in Bulgaria and abroad. The short story The Birds was included in the Dalkey Archive Press anthology Best European Fiction 2016. In 2016, he participated in the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa. Lived in Shanghai and Sun Yat-sen University in China. He translated into Bulgarian novels by writers such as Thomas Pynchon, George Saunders, Octavia E. Butler, Peter Beagle, Thomas Savage and Ted Chan. In 2020, his translation of George Saunders' Lincoln in the Woods won the award of the Association of Bulgarian Translators. He is currently working on a PhD in Bulgarian literature at Sofia University, where he also teaches courses in creative writing and fantasy literature.
