Award for the Best Bulgarian Art Documentary at the Master of Art 2022 Festival
On September 9, 2022, the closing award ceremony of the seventh edition of the Master of Art Film Festival was held at the Odeon Cinema. The jury awarded the prize for the best Bulgarian art documentary to Bilyana Kirilova's film "Voev", which also won the debut award.
The award for the second year in a row is provided by the State Institute for Culture at the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The film tells about the life and work of Dimitar Voev - a musician, poet and artist, one of the most emblematic representatives of the informal, cultural wave in Bulgaria, from the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Born in 1965 in the capital of Bulgaria - Sofia, Voev created during the totalitarian, socialist regime and the emerging transition - a period marked by censorship in art.
The music and its deep poetic metaphors reflect the "rebellion of the young" in the era of socialist realism, describe the desire for freedom and self-expression of an entire generation and live on, through their permanence, to this day.
The international jury this year was composed of Milko Lazarov, Desislava Shishmanova, David Bickerstaff, Dimitar Kotsev.
The Master of Art Film Festival is supported by the National Culture Fund, NFC and is part of the Cultural Events Calendar of the Metropolitan Municipality for 2022. The accompanying events of the festival are supported by the Metropolitan Culture Program.
Traditional partner and co-organizer of the festival is the NDK.
The main media partner is BTA.
