On April 7, 2022 in the Art Gallery "Miodrag Dado Djuric", which is one of the spaces for art and culture at the National Museum in the old capital of Montenegro - Cetinje, was opened the representative exhibition of the rich Art Collection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria - "Diplomacy and Art", part II.

H.E. Dr. Meglena Plugchieva, Ambassador of Bulgaria to Montenegro, opened the exhibition with an exciting congratulation to all guests from the diplomatic corps, representatives of local authorities and Montenegrin institutions, intellectuals and artists, and special thanks to the director of the Art Gallery in Cetinje Mirjana Dabovic for the good partnership and hospitality, in order to acquaint the Montenegrin audience with exceptional artistic masterpieces from the collection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The exhibition was prepared by the team of the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs and is a continuation of the first part of the exhibition of the same name, dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the Bulgarian Diplomatic Service.

The Director of the State Institute for Culture Ms. Snezhana Yoveva-Dimitrova told  a short story about the rich artistic fund of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the aim of this exhibition to promote great national wealth, which has become a real tool of our cultural diplomacy. She invited the hosts to visit a collection of contemporary Montenegrin artists at the Mission Gallery in Sofia next year. The event was attended by the ambassadors of Denmark, Croatia, the Slovak Republic, Belgium and others, and a special guest from Bulgaria was the director of the Sofia City Art Gallery Mrs. Adelina Fileva.

The exhibition includes 22 paintings by established Bulgarian artists from the postwar period, who managed to preserve the achievements in the field of fine arts from previous generations of artists, adding their creative pursuits. For decades, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria has been creating a fund of works of fine art that is remarkable in terms of volume and artistic qualities. In the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sofia alone, the collection numbers over 400 works, and in the Bulgarian diplomatic missions abroad are exhibited nearly 2000.

Authors who worked in the 1940s and 1950s are presented - Konstantin Shtarkelov, Denyu Chokanov, Atanas Mihov, Zdravko Alexandrov, Vasil Stoilov, followed by those who worked in the 1960s - Vladimir Manski, Vanya Decheva, Todor Dinov, Boris Nenov, Vladimir Goev. Picturesque canvases predominate, mostly landscapes. This can be explained by the specific function of the art fund - to create an aesthetic atmosphere in the official and official premises of the Ministry and foreign missions. At the same time, following the development of artistic expression over the years, we will discover the new trends of the 70s and 80s in the art of future generations. They are related to the simplification of the artistic image, building a national style with original plastic interpretations, new materiality, the emergence of associative painting, monochrome imagery, etc. In this area are the works of Naiden Petkov, Andrei Lekarski, Georgi Bozhilov, Yordan Katsamunski, Svetlin Rusev, followed by Georgi Baev, Svilen Blazhev, Stoyan Tsanev, Veliko Marinchevski, Ivan Milev.

The list of authors presented in the collective exhibition ends with Alcek Mishev. His miniature on a board recreates his action "Swimming across the Atlantic" / 1979 - 1982 /, where Mishev crosses the Atlantic Ocean, swimming tens of kilometers a day in the pool of the overseas ship "Queen Elizabeth - 2".

The traveling exhibition is visiting the National Museum in Cetinje, Montenegro until April 29, 2022, after which it will be shown in other cities in the Western Balkans and is realized with the media partnership of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency.
