A representative exhibition of the rich collection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Diplomacy and Art, Part II will be shown at the National Museum in the historical capital of Montenegro - Cetine.

The project is organized by the State Institute for Culture to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Podgorica in collaboration with the National Museum of Montenegro and the media partnership of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency. It is a logical continuation of the 2019 exhibition of the same name, dedicated to 140 years since the establishment of the Bulgarian diplomatic service, which was presented in a number of national and regional museums and galleries.

The exhibition comprises of 22 paintings of established Bulgarian artists from the post-war period, who have succeeded in preserving the achievements in the field of fine arts of the previous generations of artists, but adding their own creative nuances. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria for decades has been accumulating a remarkable in volume and artistic quality collection from works of fine arts. Only in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sofia the collection consists of more than 400 works, and near 2000 are exhibited in the Bulgarian diplomatic missions.

In the exhibition are presented authors who worked in the 1940s and 1950s - Konstantin Shturkelov, Denyu Chokanov, Atanas Mihov, Zdravko Alexandrov, Vassil Stoilov, followed by those who created in the 1960s - Vladimir Manski, Vanya Decheva, Todor Dinov, Boris Nenov, Vladimir Goev. The canvases that predominate are mostly landscapes. This can be explained by the specific function of the art collection - to create aesthetic atmosphere in the official and professional premises of the ministry and overseas missions. At the same time, by tracing the development of artistic expression over the years we will find the new trends of the 70s and 80s in the art of the next generations. They correlate with the simplification of artistic image, building a national style with original plastic interpretations, new materiality, occurrence of associative painting, monochrome imagery, etc. In this area are the works of  Nayden Petkov, Andrey Lekarski, Georgi Bozhilov, Jordan Kazamunski, Svetlin Rusev, followed by Georgi Baev, Svilen Blazhev, Stoyan Tsanev, Veliko Marinchevski, Ivan Milev.

The list of authors presented in the collective exhibition ends with Alcek Mishev. His miniature painting on a panel reproduces his performative action “Swimming Across the Atlantic” (1979 - 1982), in which Mishev crosses the Atlantic by swimming tens of kilometers per day in the swimming pool of the transatlantic ship Queen Elizabeth II.

The travelling exhibition will be displayed at the National Museum in Cetine, Montenegro from April 7 until April 29, 2022, and then will be presented in other cities of the Western Balkan countries.
