The State Institute for Culture is a Partner of the Sixth Edition of the Project "Poetry in the Subway"
Between November 8 and December 12, 2021, passengers in the cars and stations of the Sofia metro will be able to diversify their journey with poems by European authors in Bulgarian and in their original language. The stations where the poems can be found are: "Serdika", "Sofia University", "St. V. Levski”, “IEC-Tsarigradsko shose”, “Beli Dunav”, “Nadezhda”, “Khan Kubrat”, “Central Railway Station”, “Lion Bridge”, “National Palace of Culture”, “European Union”, “Vitosha”.
The sixth edition of the Poetry in the Subway project is organized by the Polish Institute in Sofia together with the Literary Journal and the EU National Institutes for Culture - EUNIC. Partners of the initiative are Sofia Municipality and the State Cultural Institute under the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The project includes poems from 14 EUNIC Cluster Bulgaria member states and associated institutions, incl. and a Bulgarian poem. The poets selected for this year's edition of the project are: Ernst Jandl (Austria), Peter Chukhov (Bulgaria), Linda France (Great Britain), Wolfgang Borchert (Germany), Konstantinos Cavafy (Greece), John F. Dean (Ireland) , Luis García Montero (Spain), Mario Luci (Italy), Tadeusz Rużewicz (Poland), Jorge de Seine (Portugal), Martin Solotruck (Slovakia), Marinka Poshtrak (Slovenia), Akos Fodor (Hungary), Jaroslav Seifert (Czech Republic).
The official opening will take place on November 10 at 6.30 pm at the Polish Institute in Sofia (12 Veslets Str.). The project will be presented by Prof. Amelia Licheva, Editor-in-Chief of the Literary Journal, and Ivona Yakushko-Dudka, Acting Director of the Polish Institute in Sofia.
