The Photo Exhibition "Bulgarian monuments under the protection of UNESCO" at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris

On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Bulgaria's membership in UNESCO on September 6, the photo exhibition "Bulgarian Monuments under the Protection of UNESCO" was opened at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The exhibition, which was officially opened by Ambassador Nikolay Milkov, Permanent Representative of Bulgaria to the organization, is dedicated to the unique cultural and natural sites of Bulgaria.

The exhibition is part of the traveling exhibitions of the State Cultural Institute to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and her first visit was to the Episcopal Basilica and the Roman mosaic heritage of Philippopolis in Plovdiv. It combines a total of 21 photographs, revealing the magnificence and beauty of the seven cultural, two natural and 1 multinational site of Bulgaria: Boyana Church, Kazanlak Tomb, Ivanovo Rock Monasteries, Rila Monastery, Madara Horseman, Sveshtari Tomb, Srebarna National Reserve "Pirin", Old Town of Nessebar, Central Balkan National Park as part of a UNESCO serial site "Old and ancient beech forests of the Carpathians" and other regions in Europe.

At the opening, the guests were greeted by the Deputy Director-General of UNESCO for Culture, Mr. Ernesto Otone. The strong and consistent commitment of the Bulgarian side to the protection and preservation of cultural and natural heritage in implementation of the 1972 Convention was emphasized, as well as the overall very active position of our country in UNESCO.
