Documentary Exhibition "I am Only a Slave to Freedom! .." 110 Years Since the Birth of Stefan Gechev

From 10 to 24 June 2021 will be held the documentary exhibition "I am Only a Slave to Freedom! ..", dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of the famous poet, writer, translator, playwright, journalist and diplomat Stefan Gechev (1911 - 2000).

The exhibition will be exhibited in the Open-Air Gallery - National Palace of Culture Kabana Summer Cinema. Visitors can see a wide selection of original photographs, archival documents, letters, poems and fiction texts by Stefan Gechev, collected in 28 panels in Bulgarian and English.

Seeing more than a century ago the multicultural and multinational development of the modern global world, Stefan Gechev has worked to build cultural bridges between Bulgaria and European nations. This is his credo. He is a visionary who outlines the role of Bulgaria in the cultural, geographical and historical map of Europe from the Golden Age to the present day. That is why it is important not only to remember the cultural heritage that he bequeathed to us, but also to integrate it into our time as a spiritual bridge to future generations.

Authors of the exhibition are: Stefan Artamontsev and Rumyana Pashaliyska; the graphic design is the work of Stefan Artamontsev; the texts in English were translated by Bozhidar Bakev, Alexander Poplilov and Mila Avramova.

The exhibition is organized with the kind assistance of Sofia Municipality in partnership with the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
