"Women in History" is a project of the association "European Spaces 21" Ruse in partnership with the Regional Historical Museum of Ruse, which illuminates the hidden cultural heritage and shows places of memory important to the local community. Co-authors of the content are Prof. Nikolay Nenov and Reneta Roshkeva from the museum and Tsveta Nenova from the civil organization.

The project was born with the support of the „You and Lidl for a Better Life“ initiative two years ago. Over 500 students from Ruse learn more about the inspiring examples of women in history, participate in civic education classes, comment on current issues on the project's website.

The exhibition of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Sofia "The First Women" presents life stories of famous Slovaks, who are realized as the first in various areas of public life. The successes of women are highlighted, important issues related to gender equality and the role of women in Slovak history are covered. At the same time, the exhibition reflects the contribution of the represented personalities to the development of science, culture and national identity.

The project is presented on the web platform www.prvezeny.sk and its concept was created in collaboration with the civic association CHARAKTER - Film Development Association, with authors and directors of documentaries and other experts. The project is financially supported by the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic, the Municipality of Bratislava and the Art Support Fund.

„Czech heroines. Remarkable Women in Czech History and Modernity“ is an illustrated mosaic with the stories of remarkable Czech women - rulers, politicians, artists, researchers, sportswomen who have left important traces in the history and present not only of the Czech Republic but also in the international context.

The project is inspired by the 100th anniversary of the legalization of women's suffrage in Czechoslovakia in 1920 and the 200th anniversary of the birth of writer Bozhena Nemtsova. It shows the portraits of 50 remarkable women, presented through the eyes of the modern young wave illustrators, students of the Faculty of Design and Arts "Ladislav Sutnar" at the University of Western Bohemia in Pilsen, led by their mentor and teacher Renata Fuchikova. Authors of the accompanying texts are historian Lenka and the writer Katerzhina Tuchkova. Project partners: Faculty of Design and Arts "Ladislav Sutnar" at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and Radio Prague International.

The exhibitions can be viewed at the Historical Museum in Ruse until May 23, 2021, subject to the necessary anti-epidemic measures.

The State Institute for Culture with the Minister of Foreign Affairs partners with the international initiative as part of the public diplomacy program, to build bridges between cultures and send common messages of respect and equality, to achieve dialogue and respect for historical memory.
