DAYS OF THE FRANCOPHONIE IN ISRAEL WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF BULGARIA

This year, the Days of Francophonie in Israel took place from March 1 to 21. The event was organized by the French Institute in Israel and the embassies of the member countries of the International Organization of the Francophonie (IOF), accredited in the country. The program included a film festival, a Francophone science forum, a gastronomy festival, a French dictation competition and literary debates. All events took place online in view of the restrictive measures imposed in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the support of the State Institute for Culture(SIC) on the Bulgarian side was presented the documentary "To Love Carmen" by director Nayo Titsin, which was available on the platforms of the Cinematheque in Jerusalem and Holon from 4 to 11 March, but due to great interest in it period for its viewing it was extended by two days. In one of the central newspapers in the country - "Haaretz", on March 9, a review by the critic Hagay Hitron was published about the musical events during the week, in which special attention was paid to the Bulgarian film. It emphasizes the merits of the work, as well as some interesting facts from the history of the reproduction of one of the most popular operas.

During the Days of the Francophonie, video addresses of the ambassadors of the IOF member countries in Israel were presented.

In her address, Ambassador Rumyana Bachvarova noted the contribution of our country in the thirty-year history of its membership in the IOF to strengthening the political dimension of Francophonie and the development of cooperation between Francophone countries. She highlighted the successes in teaching French in our country and the activities of the Specialized Institute of Francophonie for Administration and Management (SIFAM) and the Regional Center of Francophonie for Central and Eastern Europe (FRECIE).

As part of the Gastronomy Festival, the embassy organized the shooting and broadcasting of a video with the participation of chef Moshe Barel, who is of Bulgarian origin, presenting a recipe for a Bulgarian pastry.
