Students, Teachers and Those Interested in the Topic of the Role of Women Visited the Exhibition "Significant Women in History - from Bratislava to Ruse" at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Former First Lady and President of the Values Foundation Antonina Stoyanova visited the exhibition "Significant Women in History - from Bratislava to Ruse", accompanied by journalist Magdalena Gigova. They were acquainted in detail with the idea of the exhibition by the director of the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mrs. Snezhana Yoveva-Dimitrova, topics of mutual partnership interest in the field of cultural diplomacy were discussed. The guests received copies of the representative bilingual catalog "Diplomacy and Art", and a catalog to the successfully realised photographic exhibition "Bulgaria through the Prism of Time" of the Values Foundation was donated to State Institute for Cultur.

On the occasion of the International Women's Day on March 8, special guests at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were students and lecturers from the Department of Political Science at the New Bulgarian University. They were acquainted in detail with the concept and idea of the exhibition by the Slovak Embassy and Ruse Historical Museum, special attention was paid to the boards dedicated to women's rights to vote and actively participate in the political life of the country by Prof. Anna Krasteva and Dr. Evelina Staykova, who also made an up-to-date analysis on the role and place of women in societies. On this occasion, Ms. Yoveva cites the latest data from the European statistical office Eurostat, published on March 5, 2021, according to which Bulgaria ranks third among EU member states with the largest share of women in management positions. According to statistics, first and second place are Latvia (45%) and Poland (44%), followed by Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovenia and Sweden - 42%. There was also interest in the thematic exhibition from the heirs of the Bulgarian Women's Union, who examined in detail the Ruse panels and compared them with the Slovak ones in an interesting discussion.

The visit of the students is part of the long-term task of the Institute for the expansion of public and cultural diplomacy. At the meeting, apart from the idea and realization of the current exhibition for women, the director of the State Institute for Culture under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spoke about the latest mobile exhibitions hanging in the representative parts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: "Sea of Colors or the Secret Life of the Visible" by Vihra Velkova, "140 years of Bulgarian diplomatic service" and "The Episcopal Basilica of Philippopolis".
