The artist Dimitar Davidov won the 5th prize at the Festival of Watercolor in small format "Mini Castra" 2020. The names of the winners were announced before the opening of the third biennial festival, which this year will be held from August 28 to October 6 in the town of Aydoushchina.

The Bulgarian representative was awarded a prize for his work entitled "Fly". Along with D. Davidov, the international jury also awarded watercolorists from Chile, Croatia and Slovenia.

For the competition that preceded the festival this year, 384 works were received by 162 authors from almost 60 countries, incl. outside Europe. Among them are the drawings of three other participants from Bulgaria - Magdalena Kalieva, Svetlin Trendafilov and Henrieta Maneva. M. Kalieva is known among art connoisseurs in Slovenia, as last year received a diploma for her performance at the related Castra Festival. And in 2018 the already traditional event was awarded to Ivan Milushev, director of the Art Gallery in Blagoevgrad.

Born in 1974 in Varna, D. Davidov is a graduate of the Lyuben Karavelov Art School and the University of Veliko Tarnovo. On August 7 this year, when "Mini Castra" revealed the names of the winners, his solo exhibition was opened in Varna.

The awards ceremony will take place on August 29 this year. The works of D. Davidov and the other Bulgarian artists will be on view within the accompanying exhibition until October 6, 2020 in Lokarieva Gallery at 15 Preshernova Street in Aidoushchina (from Tuesday to Saturday from 3 pm to 7 pm). Visits to the gallery are allowed in strict compliance with anti-epidemiological measures. Admission is free.

The gallery is the leading initiator of "Mini Castra" 2020 in cooperation with the Slovenian representation of the World Watercolor Association (IWS Globe), the Ministry of Culture, Aidoscina Municipality and others.
