In February 2008 the film “Corridor #8” by director Boris Despodov and producer Martichka Bozhilova (AGITPROP) will be presented at the one of the largest world film festivals, Berlinale. The movie is selected to be premiered in the “Forum” section of this year’s edition after the long absence of Bulgaria cinema works from the programme of the prestigious festival.

The section “International forum of new films” or simply the “Forum” is the “boldest” in the programme of the Berlinale. It features avant-garde and experimental works – from film-essays to politically-engaged cinema. Documentaries and motion pictures are treated equally and all formats are accepted. The Forum pays specific attention to uncovering new talent and films that try to cross the genre barriers and go beyond the well-known cinematic expression tools.

The Bulgarian choice of the Forum, “Corridor #8” is a story about the everyday life of the people who live along this non-existing motor way on the Balkans. The road passes through Bulgaria, Macedonia and Albania and overlaps with a large scale infrastructure project of the EU which is aimed at connecting the Black with the Adriatic sea but for the past ten years has remained at its initial stage. Following the line of the road, the “non-road” movie “Corridor #8” captures the moods, prejudice and hopes of the peoples of the three Balkan countries which in a paradoxical way are “so far and yet so close” to each other.
