Opening of the exhibition "Anthology" by the artist Valentin Kovachev - Madrid, June 8 2016

The Embassy of Bulgaria in Spain and prestigious cultural institution Ateneo de Madrid opened on June 8 2016 in the "19 Prado" hall, an exhibition entitled "Anthology" by Bulgarian artist and gallery keeper Valentin Kovachev. The exhibition is being held under the patronage of the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Margarita Popova.

The exhibition includes selected works by the artist - oil paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures in bronze and digital art. As was expected, this Bulgarian event in the Spanish capital attracted great interest, and was attended by representatives of Spanish institutions, the diplomatic corps, Spanish public figures, journalists, Spanish and Bulgarian connoisseurs of art and many Bulgarians. Last year, the exhibition was shown in Brussels, and after Madrid, will be shown in Luxembourg.

Valentin Kovachev was born in the city of Sofia in 1953. He graduated from the National Art Academy in 1981. For nearly 25 years, he lives and works in Spain. The artist has a long and rich artistic biography, represented in his works in the most famous galleries in Spain and elsewhere in Europe, and he enjoys respect and recognition among artistic circles. Since 1995 he is a corresponding member of the University of Malaga, nominated by the Royal Academy of Fine Arts.

Stylistically, according to experts, his work has developed between realism and surrealism. The artist has achieved a significant place in both Spanish and Bulgarian culture. Featuring a variety of genres, his works are deeply connected to both countries and combine past and future, tradition and modernism.
