THE ART OF THE BULGARIAN BOOK

The exhibition “The Art of the Bulgarian Book" is part of the State Institute of Culture’s travelling exhibition programme. The exhibition includes some of the finest achievements in the field of illustration and graphic design of the Bulgarian book. The selection covers the main trends that have developed in the illustration in the country from the late 1960s to the present. Much of the illustrations are from children's books, and the rest are from illustrated magazines, encyclopedias, historical publications, graphics, book covers and textbooks, typographic fonts and calligraphy.
Some of the artists represented in “The Art of the Bulgarian Book” are well-known illustrators and graphic artists, including Victor Paounov, Tonya Goranova, Tsvyatko Ostoic, Venelin Vulkanov, Sevda Poturyan, Yasen Gyuzelev, Siana Zaharieva and Yana Levieva.
The exhibition brings together artists from different generations - teachers and students – and presents the work of doyens, their followers and the achievements of new, young artists working in the field of book illustration.
The entire collection is made up of 100 panels of 70 x 50cm.
