"Stratae" Exposition of 19 Bulgarian artists in the premises of the Permanent Representation of Bulgaria to the EU in Brussels

In the few months to come the new building of the Bulgarian Permanent Representation will house the works of 19 authors selected by Artamontsev Gallery. Over 50 works presenting extremely varied styles, graphic and painting techniques, topics and story lines are going to welcome the numerous visitors and employees in the building.

The project is realized by the Cultural Institute with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and is going to present contemporary Bulgarian art in the premises of Bulgarian foreign missions. This is a follow up to the commitment the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has shown to Bulgarian plastic culture by maintaining a rich collection of works in the missions and a unique Sculpture Park in the garden of the Ministry in Sofia itself as well as by supporting the performance of Bulgarian artists worldwide.

Displaying the selected authors and works in the missions is a specific public-private partnership project which aims at provoking a new dialogue between the contemporary plastic expressiveness and the busy daily life of public institutions.

It has been more than natural that the choice for the first project event fell on Brussels and our Permanent Representation to the EU where you can find experts from all Bulgarian ministries and public institutions who work there and meet their colleagues from the European institutions on a daily basis. The Permanent Representative – Ambassador Boyko Kotsev - took the challenge to house in the stern businesslike atmosphere of the building about 300 square metres of drawings and paintings representing the artistic visions of 19 artists.

This has been the second visit of Artamontsev Gallery to Belgium after their participation in the Europlaia – Bulgaria festival in 2002. In the current Layers exposition the choice of works offers a rendezvous with contemporary Bulgarian artists who are active participants in the artistic life of the country and are international award winners.
