Visiting of the Mobile Exhibition "Croats and Bulgarians Through the Centuries" at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Occasion of Diplomacy Day
On the occasion of Diplomacy Day, celebrated on July 19, the mobile exhibition "Croats and Bulgarians Through the Centuries. Cultural Diplomacy and Interacademic Cooperation /Hrvati i Bugari kroz stoljeća. Kulturna diplomacija i međuakademska suradnja" will be displayed in the foyer of the 7th floor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The official opening will take place on July 17 at 11 AM.
The exhibition has been prepared by a research team from the Institute of Balkan Studies with the Center of Thracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences as part of the project "Cultural Diplomacy in the Balkans in the 20th and 21st Centuries: Achievements, Problems, Challenges for the Future," funded by the Research Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science. It is presented in partnership with the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in the Republic of Bulgaria, and the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
The preparation of the exhibition is guided by the conviction that cultural diplomacy is not only cooperation in the field of culture in the traditional sense but also an exchange of information, art, ideas, and fundamental values between nations, aimed at deepening mutual understanding. In this context, the exhibition uniquely showcases the results of long-term successful partnerships between the Department of Historical Sciences and the Institute of History of Croatian Literature, Theater, and Music at the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Institute of Balkan Studies with the Center of Thracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
The mobile exhibition consists of 16 panels, each containing a QR code that provides full access to materials from conferences held in Bulgaria and Croatia within this interacademic cooperation since 1998. They reveal important aspects of Bulgarian-Croatian relations through the centuries, the contributions of both nations to the cultural diversity of the Old Continent, and their role in forming a common European identity.
