Opening of the exhibition "Letters of Bulgaria - Alphabet of Europe" on the occasion of May 24 in the Korean province of Gyeongsangbuk
On April 24, 2024, Ambassador Petar Kraychev and the Deputy Head of the Embassy-Seoul, Mr. Tsvetomir Krumov, visited the Central Library of the Korean city of Gyeongbuk, Gyeongsangbuk Province. This year, the library, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Republic of Korea, is hosting the exhibition "Letters of Bulgaria - Alphabet of Europe", which opens on the eve of May 24 - Day of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian alphabet , education and culture and of Slavic literature".
With its color and increasingly tangible popularity, the exhibition "Letters of Bulgaria - Alphabet of Europe" is a project of the International Triennial of the Stage Poster - Sofia and includes 30 posters by some of the most famous world poster artists who, at the invitation of the Triennial, design each one poster with a separate letter from the Bulgarian alphabet. The letter "Ь" was recreated in a poster after a competition in which 30 young Bulgarian artists and students up to the age of 35 participated.
The State Cultural Institute under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria has a long-standing partner relationship with the International Triennial of the Stage Poster-Sofia in the implementation of a number of international projects.
Ambassador Krajchev was greeted with a "Welcome" by the Vice Governor of Gyeongsangbuk Province, Mr. Kim Hak-hong, by the Director of the Library, Mr. Lee Sang-hyeon, and by the team of the leading center of literature in the city and the province - Gyeongsangbuk is the most the large province of the Korean peninsula with a territory of nearly 20,000 square km., a population of 2.7 million people and a GDP of over 90 billion USD.
The conversation with Vice Governor Kim was devoted to opportunities for cooperation in areas such as culture, education, trade and tourism. During the talk, the merits of the exhibition were highlighted, which gives schoolchildren, students, researchers and the general public a valuable opportunity to learn about the Bulgarian alphabet - one of the three main scripts of the Old Continent - and the historical regularities associated with it.
