 Exhibition "Traces of Contemporary Turkish Art"

Contemporary Turkish art is visiting the Mission gallery at the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The event is on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey in 2023. On this occasion, the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Sofia will organize a series of cultural events in Bulgaria throughout the year.

The exhibition, entitled "Traces of Contemporary Turkish Art", presents artworks by 32 contemporary Turkish artists with the coordination and curation of Turkish artists Meral Ozterk and Sire Wayank. In addition to painting, the exhibition also presents other forms of fine art, such as sculpture and ceramics. Within the framework of the event, Devrim Erbil - a prominent Turkish painter, will meet with the Bulgarian art circles in the framework of an open discussion about contemporary Turkish art, which will be held on February 3 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mission gallery.

The exhibition was presented in various cities of Turkey under the general title "Traces of Anatolian Civilizations". The first event was organized in 2019 in Istanbul, followed by 56 more initiatives, some of them in cultural centers such as: the Archaeological Museum in Istanbul, the Atatürk Cultural Center in Istanbul, the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations in Ankara, etc. Between December 5-30, 2022, the exhibition was opened in the city of Edirne. All initiatives were organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey. Many civilizations passed through Anatolia, where modern Turkey is today, leaving their cultural traces. The works in this exhibition are a kind of rethinking of this cultural heritage, expressed through contemporary forms and reflecting the present and the future, in the footsteps of the past.

Artists participating in the exhibition are: Alaibey Karoglu, Aydin Ayan, Balkan Nations Islamieli, Berna Okan, Benjamin Balamir, Devabile Kara, Devrim Erbil, Ekrem Kahraman, Ergin Inan, Erol Kilic, Ertugrul Atesh, Gulten Imamoglu, Halil Akdeniz, Hasan Kiran, Hasan Ranstgeldi, Himmet Gyumra, Ihsan Cakici, Ilham Enveroglu, Ilhan Marasali, Kadir Kisinoglu, Kemal Uludag, Lutfu Kaplanoglu, Melihat Tuzun, Meral Ozturk, Mustafa Cevat Atalay, Mustafa Pilevneli, Mutlu Baskaya, Onder Aydin, Semih Buyukkol, Siret Huyak, Suleyman Saim Tekkan, Zahra Chobanli, Selma Shahin.
