Contemporary Graphics At The Mission Gallery In October

In the overcrowded "Mission" gallery, a collective exhibition was opened yesterday, presenting the rich graphic collection of the graphic school in the town of Samokov. The curatorial project of Prof. Aksinia Dzurova with the title "Printmaking in Samokov - Tradition and Modernity". The exhibition presents the artists Radi Genev, Vasil Kolev, Emanuela Kovach, Onnik Karanfilyan, Lyudmil Georgiev and Milko Bozhkov. The exhibition continues the mission of the Samokov graphic base to maintain and enrich its art fund. A kind of story about the high value of the works included in the exhibition, as well as the professionalism of the authors, is presented in the curatorial text by Prof. Djurova.

The Director of the State Institute for Culture, Snezhana Joveva, opened the exhibition with the words: "We are honored that such an exhibition is a guest at the Mission Gallery and continues the important mission in the process of reviving classical graphics and traditions from the newly restored Graphic Base in the city of Samokov." Founded back in 1973 on the initiative of the Union of Bulgarian Artists, the graphic collection is kept in the building built in the 19th century. Esova's house, which preserves the Renaissance architectural aesthetics, and today the guests of Sofia and our gallery can touch the talent of the artists through their paintings.

The director of the Historical Museum in Samokov, Dr. Veselin Hadjiangelov, congratulated the guests and donated a painting - a contemporary print, graphic "Ivan the Icon Painter" 1936, from the original matrix with author Prof. Vasil Zahariev, to enrich the art fund at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Pepa Georgieva, chief expert in the municipality, gave a special welcome on behalf of the mayor of Samokov municipality, who expressed her gratitude for the excellent partnership in the realization of the exhibition, as well as for other projects in the field of cultural diplomacy.

The event was realized with the financial support of the National Fund "Culture" and with the assistance of the municipality of Samokov. The exhibition can be viewed until October 28, 2022, every weekday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
