GRAPHIC DESIGN MEETS DIPLOMACY IN THE EXHIBITION "VISION FOR DIPLOMACY" AT THE "MISSION" GALLERY
An exhibition of graphic design by Erina Boyanova was opened at the Mission Gallery on June 16, 2022. The exhibition entitled "Vision for Diplomacy" is part of the project "Digital Museum of Sports", funded by UNESCO, and presents a system for visual communication. The project was developed and implemented in the period July-December 2021 and is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of UNESCO, the 65th anniversary of Bulgaria at UNESCO and the 60th anniversary of the Museum of Sports. On the occasion of the presentation of the graphic concept in the Mission Gallery, the visual communication system has been supplemented with new authorial components that encourage reflection and dialogue on the relationship between graphic design, communications and diplomacy.
The exhibition was opened by the Director of the State Institute for Culture, Mrs. Snezhana Yoveva-Dimitrova, who stressed that the Mission Gallery is increasingly becoming a space for cultural dialogue and diplomacy through art, a place where exhibitions of young people and talented Bulgarian artists and designers who have a strong professional interest in the topic of diplomacy.
Prof. Milena Popova - Professor of Semiotics, Language and Advertising at Sofia University stressed: “The posters are characterized by generalized metaphorical and connotative load, which opens the possibility for creative interpretation of information in the process of reception and interpretation. Everyone can interpret and look for all the layers of meaning in these posters, which are extremely modern and conceptual. " The author of the exhibition Erina Boyanova, for her part, expressed her gratitude to all institutions that supported the development of the project for the exhibition - The Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Commission for UNESCO - Bulgaria, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Mission Gallery.
The exhibition can be viewed until July 12, every weekday between 10 am and 5 pm at the Mission Gallery.
