THE MISSION GALLERY PRESENTS THE GRAPHIC EXHIBITION "VISION FOR DIPLOMACY" BY ERINA BOYANOVA

13/06/22

Mission Gallery, 2 Alfred Nobel Street

June 16 - July 12, 2022

Departure: June 16, 6 p.m.

The solo graphic exhibition by Erina Boyanova "Vision for Diplomacy" is an attempt at creative interpretations and experiments in the field of visual communication. The exposition presents a realized system for visual communication - part of the project "Digital Museum of Sports", funded by UNESCO. The focus of the project is on modern graphic communication with its distinctive features: at the same time functional, making controlled suggestions, transmitting messages, reaching the maximum degree of efficiency. The idea is to trace the creative process in the applied graphics by presenting an already implemented system for visual communication. The graphic components perform an organizing, informative and aesthetic function at the same time.

The project was developed and implemented in the period July - December 2021. It is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of UNESCO, the 65th anniversary of Bulgaria in UNESCO and the 60th anniversary of the Museum of Sports. In January - April 2022, on the occasion of the presentation of the graphic concept in the Mission Gallery, the system of visual communication was supplemented with new author's components. This exhibition brings together all the visual elements to demonstrate the relationship between them. Thanks to the mediation of signs, symbols and colors, the points of contact between museum space, diplomacy and visual communication are organized in a common semantic framework, which creates a completely new and open to interpretation visual system. Thus, the main mission of the project - to facilitate visitors and participants in the communication, as well as fast and seamless orientation in the exhibition environment - becomes a creative arena, encouraging new thoughts and communications in the field of cultural diplomacy.

Erina Boyanova received her PhD in design, advertising and semiotics from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", and before that she studied "Poster and Visual Communication" at the National Academy of Arts, Sofia. She has specialized in the Herald Express newspaper (Great Britain) and in the Bulgarian National Radio. She has created projects for the Museum of the History of Sofia, the Museum of Sports, and has participated in a number of creative events such as the International Symposium on Painting and Sculpture "Terra Culta" (2018), the Ninth International Triennial of Poster Poster Sofia (2019) and the creative residence “ To Be Continued” (2021).

The project and the exhibition are implemented with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Commission for UNESCO - Bulgaria, the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Mission Gallery.
