20/01/21

The State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs starts 2021 with a positive and creative attitude with the exhibition "UPGRADE II".
In April-May, 2020, the institute organized the first edition of the virtual exhibition "UPGRADE" - a collective online exhibition at the Mission gallery, which showed the latest works of art acquired for the Art Fund of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These were works from exhibitions realized in recent years, donated /bought works and restored paintings.
The exhibition "UPGRADE II" develops the concept from its first edition further, and now shows the last paintings received in the fund in the past year, in which the institute celebrated its 15th anniversary. The exhibition includes graphics, collage and mixed media, as well as paintings by some of the most prominent contemporary Bulgarian artists and graphic artists, including: Gredi Assa, Mariana Marinova, Nina Ruseva, Lyudmil Lazarov, Dimitar Petrov, Zoran Mishe, Svetozar Benchev, Branko Nikolov, Lyudmil Georgiev, Emanuela Kovach, Veselin Damyanov - VES and Vasil Kolev - VASSILLO. Some of the artists successfully develop their creative careers outside Bulgaria, such as: Dimitar Genchev (Netherlands), Yanko Tihov (England) and Desislava Unger (Austria).
In a time of global crisis, encounters with art can inspire hope and provoke creativity and new ideas. We offer you to touch a rich and diverse selection of contemporary Bulgarian art through the second edition of the exhibition "UPGRADE", which will be presented virtually from January 26 until February 19, 2021 through the online channels of the State Institute for Culture.
