Bulgarian artists exhibit their works in Beijing

On 20 September 2010, the Fourth Beijing International Art Biennial, China 2010 was opened in the Arts Museum. The biennial was organised by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Beijing Municipality and Chinese Artists Association, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of China. The theme of the biennial was “Environment Concern and Human Existence”, and it attracted more than 500 works of art by authors from 85 countries. On the invitation of the Organising Committee of the Fourth Beijing International Art Biennial, artists Valchan Petrov and Delia Chausheva from Bulgaria participated in it.

One day later, on 21 September, the Art-8 Gallery in Beijing hosted a solo exhibition by Viktor Popov entitled “Traces of Time”. The exhibition was prepared with the assistance of the Bulgarian Embassy in Beijing, and was opened by Bulgaria’s ambassador to China, Georgi Peychinov. Representatives of foreign diplomatic missions to China, foreign executives, representatives of China’s artistic and intellectual elite, and Bulgarians residing in Beijing were present at the opening. In his speech at the opening of the exhibition, ambassador Peychinov pointed out the spiritual value of such events and their importance for the image of Bulgarian culture abroad. Viktor Popov gave an interview for the Beijing Today magazine, and attracted the attention of guests from The Wan Xiang? Wan Siang?, a major art and culture magazine. The exhibition will be open until 21 October.
