The Exhibition "Moliere Without Borders" was Opened within the Framework of the Francofolies Festival In Plovdiv

On July 12, the Plovdiv Drama Theater hosted the official opening of the mobile poster exhibition "Molière Without Borders", organized by the State Institute for Culture under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Stage Poster Triennial, as part of the rich accompanying program of the Les Francofolies Festival in Plovdiv. The exhibition will be open until September 30.

At the opening in the beautiful lobby of the theater, where the exhibition is displayed, welcoming words were addressed to the guests by the deputy mayor for culture, archeology and tourism of the municipality of Plovdiv - Plamen Panov, Hristina Spasova - organizer and main driver of the Festival Les Francofolies Plovdiv, Suzanne Harutyunyan - Vasilevska - deputy director of the Plovdiv Drama Theater - host of the exhibition, Albena Spasova from the International Triennial and Snezhana Joveva-Dimitrova - director of the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The director of the state Institute for Culture Snezhana Joveva noted that the inclusion of the exhibition in the rich program of the Les Francofolies festival marks this year the 30th anniversary of Bulgaria's full membership in the International Organization of Francophonie. Albena Spasova expressed gratitude for the opportunity to present the exhibition to a wider audience and told interesting information about the works and their authors, some of whom were present at the event. Among them was the famous poster artist Kostadin Otonov from Plovdiv, organizer of the "Poster-Kostadin Otonov" National Competition, aimed at students of the "Advertising Graphics", "Graphic Design" and "Computer Graphics" majors in the art schools of the Ministry of Culture. The event was also attended by young poster artists such as Engin Shterev, Georgi Georgiev - Arshata, Georgi Junev and others.

The "Molière Without Borders" collection is dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the birth of the French playwright and master of comedy Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, known by his stage name Molière, which was celebrated in 2022. It brings together 35 Bulgarian and foreign posters. Some of them were created especially for the project, and others are from the Triennale's rich fund. Works by some of the most influential Bulgarian and foreign poster masters are included, such as: Asen Stareyshinski, Bozhidar Ionov, Stefan Despodov, Georgi Yankov (Bulgaria), Stefan Bundi (Switzerland), Tomasz Boguslavski and Piotr Depta (Poland), Vladimir Terentiev and Yuri Toreev (Belarus) and others. Five well-established contemporary authors (participants and award winners of the triennial) also participate by special invitation: Alexandra Gogova, Dimitar Traichev, Kapka Kaneva, Kostadin Otonov and Hristofor Krastev, as well as their graduates - young artists, including students and pupils from art schools and academies in Sofia, Plovdiv, and Varna.

The Plovdiv edition of the Les Francofolies festival - the largest international festival for contemporary francophone music, which will be held on June 16 and 17 at the Rowing Base, is part of the "Heritage 2023" program of the "Plovdiv 2019" Foundation and is carried out with the kind support of the Municipality of Plovdiv, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Tourism and the Embassy of the Republic of France in Bulgaria.
