Presentation of the Photo Exhibition "Bulgarian Monuments under the Protection of UNESCO" in Islamabad

On 7 June 2023 the Embassy of Bulgaria in Islamabad hosted a photo exhibition of Bulgarian sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List, organized with the support of the State Institute for Culture to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria. The exhibition was complemented by several photographs, illustrating the famous Bulgarian oil-giving roses and the centuries-long tradition of rose picking.

Ms. Farina Mazhar. Secretary for National Heritage and Culture at the Federal Government of Pakistan, graced the event with her presence as Chief Guest.

In their opening remarks the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Pakistan Ms. Irena Gancheva and Ms. Mazhar emphasized the important role of intercultural dialogue for strengthening the mutual understanding and cooperation on bilateral and multilateral basis, as well as for finding solutions to some of the most pressing issues in today’s globalized world. In this context they reiterated the mutual desire of Bulgaria and Pakistan to further develop and expand the bilateral cultural ties by utilizing the existing good potential.

Ambassador Gancheva also paid special attention to the unique Bulgarian sites, included in the UNESCO List of World Heritage, underlining their importance as a source of national pride, as well as their significant role in presenting and increasing the popularity of Bulgaria abroad.

The photo exhibition was attended by officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government institutions of Pakistan, representatives of the cultural, educational and business circles, journalists and members of the Diplomatic corps in Islamabad.
