The State Institute for Culture will Take Part in the The European Night of Museums
The State Institute for Culture joins the celebration of the European Night of Museums with a virtual story about the creator, writer, public figure and the first director of the Bulgarian National Radio Sirak Skitnik.
2023 marks the 140th anniversary of Sirak Skitnik's birth and 80th anniversary of his death. On this occasion, the State Institute for Culture of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bulgarian National Radio jointly created a special virtual narrative. The creative video is another initiative to properly mark the anniversaries, the celebration of which is under the patronage of the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria Iliana Yotova.
Sirak Skitnik is one of the brightest figures in interwar Bulgarian art, and the creation of a virtual story about him is an occasion for publicity and rediscovery of his personality, creativity, and contribution to Bulgarian culture. The virtual story is planned to be distributed among the Bulgarian representations abroad and thus serve for the development of activities related to public events and cultural diplomacy. The video uses archival and photographic materials provided by the BNR, the Art Gallery "Dimitar Dobrovich" - Sliven, author's text by Dr. Plamen Petrov - director of the Art Gallery in Kazanlak. Included are stills from the 1991 film “Sirak Skitnik” with author and director Vladimir Angelov and cinematographer Yaroslav Yachev. The video was filmed and edited by Tsvetan Ignatovski.
With the virtual story about Sirak Skitnik, the State Institute for Culture and the Bulgarian National Radio are included in the rich program on the occasion of the "European Night of Museums - Sofia 2023", organized by the French Cultural Institute in Bulgaria in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Sofia Municipality. The event will take place on May 13 and more than 50 museums and galleries will take part in it with exhibitions, concerts, workshops, films, organized guided tours and more.
