Presentation of the film "The Infinite Garden" in Lagos at the Francophonie Week in Nigeria

On March 25, 2023, after a long hiatus, a Bulgarian film was again presented in Lagos, Nigeria. As part of the Francophonie Week, the screening of the feature film "The Infinite Garden" (2018) directed by Galin Stoev took place in the largest Nigerian city.

The event was jointly opened by the Bulgarian Honorary Consul in Lagos, Achike Umunna, the Consul General of France in the city, Joseph Catino and the Honorary Consul of Switzerland, who highlighted the importance of Francophonie Week in Nigeria as an effective forum for intercultural cooperation and exchange. In front of the audience of different nationalities, Achike Umunna pointed out that this year Bulgaria celebrates the 30th anniversary of its accession as a member of the International Organization of Francophonie.

The last cultural event so far organized by Bulgaria in the most populous Nigerian city was in 2002 and, given the long break, the screening of the film "The Endless Garden" was welcomed with increased interest among the Bulgarian community in Lagos, as well as from to members of the Association of Nigerian citizens who studied in our country.

The State Institute for Culture to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria provided the film. With the support of the Institute, a number of Bulgarian events from the program of the Week of Francophonie in Abuja are realized.
