EIGHTH EDITION OF "MASTER OF ART" FILM FESTIVAL - IN FEBRUARY IN SOFIA, PLOVDIV, VARNA AND STARA ZAGORA

08/02/23

This year we will anticipate spring and we invite you to a festival from February 10 to March 8, in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Stara Zagora. The festival presents over 50 documentary feature-length and short films in the following categories: Architecture, Design and Fashion, Fine Art, Music and Dance, Literature, Photography, Theatre and Cinema, Contemporary Art and Art and Power.

The opening is on February 10 (Friday) at 6:00 p.m. simultaneously at Lumiere Cinema (Sofia), Lucky Cinema House (Plovdiv), Festival and Congress Center (Varna) and Regional Library "Zachary Knyazheski" (Stara Zagora). The film chosen to kick off the festival is the Italian “Botticelli, Florence and the Medici” (dir. Marco Pianigiani). Traditional partner of the festival is the National Palace of Culture, and tickets for the opening in Sofia in the cosy hall of Lumiere cinema are no longer available.

On the same day at 8:00 p.m., there is a screening of the Bulgarian documentary "Singing Artists" with producer Igor Markovski. A 55-minute documentary by director Vasil Stefanov in black and white and color footage and stereo sound meets popular Bulgarian performers and actors, including Orlin Goranov, Dobrin Dosev and Veselin Veselinov – Eko, Lyudmila Slaneva and Gerasim Georgiev – Gero, Simeon Vladov and Gergana Stoyanova, Maya Bezhanska and Daniel Tsochev, Koyna Ruseva and Miro. The choice of the date February 10 is not accidental - it is the day on which the great and much-loved Bulgarian actress Tatiana Lolova would have turned 89. "Singing Artists" is the last creative project in which she participated, and it will again be shown in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Stara Zagora.

During the festival days, you can enjoy also films as: "Charlie Chaplin: The Genius of Liberty" (February 16), “Ennio – the Maestro” directed by Giuseppe Tornatore" (February 12 and 17), "Fuoco sacro - a search of the sacred fire of songs" (17 February), “Dancing Pina” (February 18), “Buñuel: The Surrealist Director” (February 19), “Sagrada Familia: Gaudi's Challenge” (February 23), “My Name Is Alfred Hitchcock” (February 24), “The Genius of Gianni Versace” (February 25), “Truman and Tennessee: An Intimate Conversation” (February 26), “Lynch/Oz” (February 26), “Marcel Marceau: The Art of Silence” (February 28), “Arturo Mari – The Popes' Photographer" (March 1).
