Visit of the Director of the State Institute for Culture in Ankara

On 28.11.2022, the Embassy of Bulgaria in Turkey hosted an international group of students - participants in a project under the Erasmus+ program on the topic "Sustainable Green Future" with the Bulgarian partner Bridges - Eastern European Forum for Dialogue.

Within the framework of the meeting, a special presentation was organized - a lecture by the director of the State Institute for Culture to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, Mrs. Snezhana Joveva, who presented more significant events in the line of sustainability and art, told about the main activities and programs, as well as presented the international partnerships of the institute, the work with Bulgarian and foreign institutions, universities, organizations and media.

The guests had the opportunity to ask questions and view the photo exhibitions "Fragrances" and "Slavic Bulgarian History", organized with the assistance of the State Institute for Culture and the Central Library of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Within the program of the visit to Ankara of the director of the State Institute for Culture, a constructive meeting was held with the director of the National Library of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Ayhan Tughlu. Mrs. Joveva presented the main activities of the Institute, new international partnerships and perspectives for this. He shared about the successful Bulgarian-Turkish exhibition in the "Mission" gallery, which presented two artists - Ivan Milushev and Yasharali Tahir, in partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Sofia.

Ideas for future guest thematic and photographic exhibitions from the program of the Institute, jointly with the Embassy, were also discussed.

The library is a new modern public space to the presidency in Ankara and impresses with scale and modern innovative solutions, one of the largest libraries in Europe, opened in 2020. It has a seating capacity of about 5,500, its collection consists of 2,000,000 printed books and approximately 2,000,000 periodicals from 12,500 printed journals. In addition, the 46 databases provide access to 550,000 e-books, 6,500,00 e-research and 120,000,000 articles.

His Excellency Angel Cholakov and Mrs. Yoveva handed over a donation of books in Bulgarian and in English for the enrichment of the so-called "Bulgaria corner" - some of them are specialized editions of our partners from the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute and the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad and IBCT - BAS. The library director also introduced the special phototype exhibition in a modern exhibition space in the library, dedicated to their first president Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, as well as the other innovative reading and event spaces.
