Bulgarian Participation in the FeKK Short Film Festival, Ljubljana

18/08/22

This year, too, Bulgaria will participate in the Festival of Short Films "FeKK", the eighth edition of which is being held in Ljubljana from August 15 to 20, inclusive, under the motto "Secret Life". This time our country will be represented by Geri Georgieva - with her experimental film "Sybil's Noon Stone Shower".

It is included in the "FeKK off" section, within which productions from Serbia, the USA, Slovenia, Latvia, Brazil, the Netherlands, Scotland and the Czech Republic will also be shown.

The 10-minute tape was created in 2020 in collaboration with Miglena Georgieva and Naima Karlsson as the author of the music. The audience will have the opportunity to see a kind of kaleidoscope of female characters and silhouettes.

The screening will take place on August 18 (Thursday) at 4:30 p.m. in the "Silvan Furlan" hall of the Slovenian Cinematheque at 28 "Mikloshicheva" Street in Ljubljana, where six other short films will also be shown. Their visit to the festival is organized jointly with the cultural center and gallery "ŠKUC" in Ljubljana - in parallel with the international exhibition entitled "I saw the future, dear ones, and it's sexy" (9.08-11.09.22). The screening will be with free admission.

The young visual artist Gery Georgieva, born in Varna, is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Arts in London. Her creative performances include video performances, multimedia installations, exhibitions, musical collaborations, etc. Until now, she has participated in collective and solo exhibitions in our country, in Germany, the UK, the USA, Japan and other countries. Among her more famous projects are "At the Fountain" (2018), "Rumenata Dolina" (2017) and "Political Queen" (2017).

During the six-day festival, more than 160 film titles (including for children) from 35 countries, included in 12 sections, will be screened in various cultural institutions and on the outdoor screen in the "Metelkova" museum district. "FeKK"`22 is organized by the Association for the Promotion of Visual Culture "Kraken" - in partnership with the Slovenian Cinematheque, the Art Cinema Network "Kinodvor", the Ministry of Culture, the European Film Academy, etc.

Bulgaria has traditionally participated in the international festival since its launch in the summer of 2014. Last year our country was represented strongly by the young artists Hristo Simeonov, Veneta Androva and Slava Doycheva. In the previous editions of "FeKK", the audience was also offered short films from Bulgaria - co-productions with the Republic of North Macedonia, Germany and Italy.
