The State Institute for Culture is a partner of the Burgas youth festival "Who saves one Human Life, Saves the Whole Universe", organized for the ninth time by the Alef Center for Jewish-Bulgarian Cooperation.

This is the ninth edition of the short story competition dedicated to people who defended Jews during the dark years of the Holocaust. In the last two editions, it has already had an international participation, and this year young people from nine countries presented their works.

The festival program for 30 nominated participants included a visit to sights in Burgas and the region, creative workshops with prominent authors. Georgi Gospodinov, Georgi Burdarov, Nedyalko Yordanov and Christopher Buxton living in Burgas were the main actors in these creative laboratories. Their role was to provoke young authors by presenting the main themes of their work, to broaden their view of the study of literature. In their presentations, writers find a way to connect the subject of the Holocaust with the modern view of the problems that can lead to the tragedy of destruction. The indifference that can once again open the way to violence, the human and civil positions that must be defended.

At an official ceremony, the winners of the competition were announced - and here we publish the award-winning short story "Noah's Ark" by Militsa Ivanova, a student in the 11th grade at the First Language High School in Varna. Militsa Ivanova has been a member of the "Castalia" literary club in Varna since childhood.
