The Asian Festival "Treasures of the East" opens Sofia Summer Fest
The official opening of Sofia Summer Fest will take place on July 2. Sofia Summer Fest will continue until September 30 in South Park II, behind the Earth and People Museum.
The start of this year’s edition will be given by "Treasures of the East", the Asian Festival, which is organized at the initiative of the Indonesian Embassy in Bulgaria, along with 11 other diplomatic missions - Vietnam, India, Iran, Cambodia, Mongolia, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Palestine, Republic of Korea, Philippines, and Japan.
During the festival, visitors will be able to get acquainted with the culture and traditions of different countries; will be able to participate in Yoga and Taekwondo classes, also at various Asian dances and much more. The festival begins at 10:00 am and will continue with stage performances until 7.30 pm. Exhibition stands will be on display until 10:00 pm.
“Treasures of the East” announces support for the MS-Moga Sam Foundation and their 1000 Cranes campaign to combat multiple sclerosis. All visitors will have the opportunity to get involved in folding cranes, donating their time as a sign of empathy and having the opportunity for material support for people with MS, but also for their own emotional and psychological balance and fulfillment of their personal, inner desire.
"We expect more than 10,000 visitors to take part in the festival and to enjoy more than 30 different activities with a variety of Asian performances, dances, music, culinary temptations, and martial arts. Guests will have the opportunity to touch the Treasures of Asia, while supporting the festival's charity initiative. Lottery tickets are available for anyone who wants to win prizes such as holiday vouchers, spa therapies, dinners, as well as 2 plane tickets to Dubai provided by FlyDubai. All proceeds will be donated to the fight against multiple sclerosis, the cause of the MS-Moga Sam Foundation", said Kaloyan Stoyanov from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, project coordinator of the Asian Festival in Sofia.
The Asian Festival is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Sofia Municipality, the State Institute for Culture at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and with the special support of the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria – H.E. Mrs. Iliana Yotova.
