THE PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION "DIRECTIONS" VISITS THE INTERNATIONAL FRANCOPHONE FESTIVAL "SOLEI" IN SOZOPOL

The photographic exhibition "Directions", realized by the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs, together with the FotoFabrica Foundation in 2020, was opened in the renovated exposition center of the old town of Sozopol. The photo exhibition is part of the rich program of the XI International Francophone Festival "Soleil", which is held in Sozopol between June 3 - 8, 2022. Artists and projects from Bulgaria, Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, Albania, Kosovo, Greece, Switzerland, Azerbaijan, Georgia and France take part in it. The guests of Sozopol within the festival have the opportunity to visit a number of interesting group individual exhibitions, concerts - jazz, pop, art events and creative workshops that present the diversity of cultural models of the participating countries.

During the opening of the exhibition, the guests were greeted by Mrs. Alexandrina Isaylova, Art Director of the Soleil Festival, who noted: “The exhibition is unique in nature and I would like to note that it is arranged among the unique archaeological artifacts and ancient vessels from the region with the assistance of the director of the Archaeological Museum in Sozopol Dimitar Nedev. In this way it is at a very good level and corresponds well with the artifacts.” Sozopol Municipality Secretary Yanko Kostadinov greeted all guests and artists, thanked the organizers of the International Francophone Festival and the State Institute for Culture hosting the exhibition and in this way promoting the antique objects in ancient Sozopol – through a contemporary photography. The director of the State Institute for Culture Snezhana Yoveva also thanked the hosts and organizers of the festival and stressed in her welcome address that the exhibition "Directions" is a real starting point for interaction between people and a real example of what inspires artists to find directions, show images, actions, beauty, and to share messages.

The photographic exhibition "Directions" was realized in 2020 on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs. It was realized jointly with the FotoFabrica Foundation as a result of a competition and selected photographs by 14 participants, which most directly correspond to the topic "Directions". These are: Ventsislav Petrov, Violeta Apostolova, Georgi Mitev, Elena Savova, Zlatko Latev, Ivan Nestorov, Izabela Manolova, Lilyana Karadjova, Minko Mihailov, Nikolay Alexiev, Plamen Hristov, Rozalia Malcheva, Tanya Angelova and Hristo Kracholov. The exhibition presents images taken by lovers of photography, without restrictions on age and professional experience, which directly or indirectly reflect the themes of globalization, identity, intercultural dialogue and tolerance between different nations, and has so far visited Sofia, Koprivshtitsa, Milan, Rome, Ottawa, Toronto and others.

The photographic exhibition aroused great interest among the public, it is part of the traveling exhibitions of State Institute for Culture and can be viewed at the Museum Center in the old town of Sozopol until the end of June.
