International Women's Day Gathers Female Ambassadors in Sofia
The State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs hosted an international event marking March 8 - International Women's Day. A large part of the ladies ambassadors in Sofia from a number of countries gathered in the renovated gallery "Mission" on the initiative of the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Bulgaria HE Donika Hodja and the Chairperson of the Commission for Protection against Discrimination Assoc. Prof. Ana Djumalieva.
The guests were greeted by the Director of the State Institute for Culture Mrs. Snezhana Yoveva, who highlighted the impact of art that surrounds us from the paintings of the artist Dr. Nina Ruseva, inspired by the power of the Earth - beautiful caves in Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia. In her speech, HE Donika Hoxha greeted the guests and expressed confidence and the need for more support for women in these challenging times. Assoc. Prof. Ana Dzhumalieva, Chair of the CPD, made a historical retrospective of the presence and role of women from antiquity to the present day, highlighted the current problems and challenges facing women every day. A special congratulation to the guests was given by Ms. Maya Dobreva, Director General for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasizing the importance of more and more women through knowledge and ambitions to continue to achieve their dreams. The issues of the place and role of women in public and political life, gender equality in the workplace and the right to work-life balance were discussed, with specific examples from Bulgaria, Albania, Finland and others.
All guests had the opportunity to get acquainted in detail with the inspiring work of contemporary Bulgarian artist Dr. Nina Ruseva, who lives and works in Sofia. Her father, the famous sculptor Ivan Rusev, whose stone columns greet everyone at the entrance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is also included in the exhibition with special participation.
