The exhibition presents the path of a little known to the general public and defined as the first Bulgarian traveler. Lyuba Kutincheva was born in Veliko Tarnovo on May 15, 1910. She comes from a family of intellectuals. Her mother is the niece of the legendary captain Raycho Nikolov. In 1912, together with her parents, Lyuba Kutincheva moved to live in the town of Silistra. After 1913, the town of Silistra, as part of Southern Dobrudja, came under Romanian rule. Luba received her secondary education at a French college in Bucharest.

As a very young woman she began to travel, going to Turkey, where in the big cities of the country she told tales about Bulgaria, about our literature, poetry, manners, customs. The tales were widely attended. The money earned from them allows her to begin her mission as a traveler. She traveled throughout the Middle and Far East and North Africa, reaching southern Sakhalin and Madagascar. During her travels she showed great interest in the situation of women in different countries. Women's rights and equality in all areas is a topic that has greatly excited Kutincheva since her school years. Lyuba Kutincheva is the first Bulgarian to visit Japan, Baroda, Burma, Siam, Indochina, Borneo, Sumatra, Ceylon, Formosa (Taiwan), South Sakhalin, Oman, Muscat, Tunisia, Tripoli, Madagascar and others. She claims to be the first Bulgarian woman to cross the jungle on foot from Madras to Bangkok and the first European woman to visit Mecca, Medina, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman and Muscat.

Lyuba Kutincheva's documents are stored in the fund of the State Archives - Sofia. She personally handed them over to the archives in 1968-1969, describing all the materials herself. The authentic descriptions of Lyuba Kutincheva were used to prepare the texts for the photos included in the exhibition.
