International Poster Action on the Occasion of the 400th Anniversary of Moliere's Birth

January 15, 2022 marks the 400th anniversary of the birth of the French playwright Jean-Baptiste Poclin, known by his stage name Moliere. On this occasion, the International Triennial of Stage Poster - Sofia in partnership with the State Institute for Culture under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the French Institute in Bulgaria present the online project "Moliere without Borders", dedicated to the work of the great playwright and master of comedy.

The collection unites over 35 Bulgarian and foreign posters. Some of them were created especially for the specific project, and others are part of the rich fund of the Triennial. Works by some of the most influential Bulgarian and foreign masters of the poster are included: Asen Stareishinski, Stefan Despodov, Georgi Yankov (Bulgaria), Stefan Bundi (Switzerland), Tomasz Boguslawski and Piotr Depta (Poland), Vladimir Terentiev and Yuri Toreev ( Belarus) and others.

In its desire to provoke a wide range of young Bulgarian poster artists, the International Triennial turned to five established contemporary authors (participants and winners of the triennial): Alexandra Gogova, Dimitar Traichev, Kapka Kaneva, Kostadin Otonov and Christopher Krastev, who as mentors they created posters and attracted their colleagues and alumni as participants. In this way, the project included works by very young artists, includingstudents and pupils from art schools and academies in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna.

The exhibition "Moliere without Borders" is an open project that will grow throughout the current year, including posters designed for the upcoming in November this year. X. Until then, the idea of the organizers of the action is - to continue to live in different forms of digital and real environment, showing how modern and provocative are the interpretations of the universal messages of Moliere.
