EXHIBITION ABOUT BULGARIAN MONUMENTS UNDER UNESCO PROTECTION VISITS THE MUSEUM OF TOURISM IN SOFIA

At the beginning of the new 2022 in the representative exhibition hall of the Museum of Tourism at the University of Library Science and Information Technology on January 13 opened the travelling phototype exhibition "Bulgarian Monuments Under the Protection of UNESCO", realized by the State Institute for Culture and with the expert support of The National Commission for UNESCO at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of celebrating in 2021 the 65th anniversary of Bulgaria's membership in UNESCO and the 75th anniversary of the founding of the organization. The exhibition marks the beginning of the celebration in Bulgaria of the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the World Heritage Convention.

The event was opened by Mr. Hristo Prodanov, Minister of Tourism, Prof. Irena Peteva, Rector of UNIBIT, Ms. Snezhana Yoveva-Dimitrova, Director of the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rumen Draganov, Director of The Institute for Analysis and Forecasting of the Information Environment in Tourism at UNIBIT, a member of the Board of the Bulgarian Tourist Union, and a representative of the National Commission for UNESCO.

The event was also attended by Dr. Martin Zahariev, Deputy Chairman of the National Board of Tourism, Prof. Dr. Evgeni Velev, Director of the Museum of Tourism, teachers, students, representatives of the Bulgarian Tourist Union and others.

The panels in the exhibition reveal seven sites representing the cultural heritage of Bulgaria, two sites of natural heritage and one serial site in which Bulgaria also participates. The audience and UNIBIT students can enjoy views of the ancient beech forests of the reserves in the Central Balkan National Park as part of a UNESCO serial site "Old and ancient beech forests of the Carpathians and other regions of Europe", Ivanovo rock monasteries, Srebarna Nature Reserve, Sveshtari Tomb, Madara Horseman, Pirin National Park, Boyana Church, Kazanlak Tomb, the Old Town of Nessebar and the Rila Monastery. They are presented through professional art photographs and trilingual scientifically sound texts. Most of the photographs in the exhibition are by the authoritative photographer Ivo Hadjimishev and so far the exhibition has been successfully presented in Paris, Tunisia, Podgorica, Kotor, Plovdiv, Sofia and Kazanlak, copies of it are being prepared for Germany and Croatia.

The exhibition is realized in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, the Museum of Tourism, UNIBIT, the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Commission of the Republic of Bulgaria for UNESCO.

The event was held in compliance with all anti-epidemiological measures, and the exhibition can be viewed until the end of March 2022.
