The Photographic Exhibition "Directions" Visits Milan

On the occasion of the Day of the National Leaders, the photographic exhibition "Directions" of the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs is visiting Milan. The initiator and organizer of the event is the Consul General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Milan Mrs. Tanya Dimitrova, who greeted the Bulgarian and Italian audience, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps, emphasizing the visit of the exhibition on this special Bulgarian holiday.

In her address to the guests, the director of the State Institute for Culture, Mrs. Snezhana Yoveva, pointed out the important mission of the Institute to support the promotion of our culture and art and to be an active mediator in cultural diplomacy. She briefly presented the concept of the photography exhibition "Directions", which interprets a variety of topics - intercultural dialogue, tolerance, the beauty of nature, faces and emotions, identity. "All this has its direction, towards us, the spectators of the exhibition," said Snezhana Yoveva.

The exhibition features three photographs created by authors inspired by the beauty of Italy and they are: "Lake Bries - Dolomites, Italy" 2016, Nikolai Alexiev, "Napoli" 2018, Rosalia Malcheva and "The Hidden Columns of Rome - Piazza di Trevi 92-94, Roma ”2018 Lilyana Karadzhova, and special attention was paid to them.

The photographic exhibition "Directions" was realized in 2020 on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs, together with the PhotoFactory Foundation. It is the result of a competition and a professional jury selected photographs from 14 participants who most directly correspond to the topic "Directions". The exposition has visited several Bulgarian diplomatic missions around the world. It has been displayed in the open in partnership with the Sofia Municipality and the Slovak Embassy in Sofia.

During their visit to Milan, the Director of the State Institute for Culture and Mr. Ilian Lolugov, Head of the Cultural Policy Department took part in the official ceremony and wreath-laying on the occasion of the Day of the National Leaders at the monument-bench of Pencho Slaveykov, erected in 2019 year in a central place in the city on the initiative of the Consul General Mrs. Tanya Dimitrova. They were also official guests at the solemn consecration of the new space of the Bulgarian Consulate General in Milan. Mrs. Yoveva donated to the team of the Consulate General a consecrated icon of the Mother of God, a replica of the miraculous icon from the Rila Monastery, as well as the representative bilingual catalog "Diplomacy and Art", brochures, presentation magazines in Italian of the State Institute for Culture projects, and the latest issue of the Literary Journal, specially sent by the editorial board of the newspaper in Bulgaria for our consulate and our compatriots in the Lombardy region. During their official visit to Milan, Ms. Yoveva and Mr. Lolugov held meetings with artists, one of whom was the Italian artist Carla Bruski. Possibilities for the realization of future joint cultural projects in Bulgaria were discussed.
