The State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs is a Partner of the Fourth Edition of the Nikola Gyuzelev International Award

2021 marks the 85th anniversary of the birth and 60th anniversary of the debut on the stage of the famous Bulgarian opera singer and artist Maestro Nikola Gyuzelev, Commandant of the Italian Republic, Dr. Honoris Causa of Bulgarian Academy of Science, awarded the prestigious Golden Giuseppe Verdi Award for Merit in Belcanto and many other awards in Bulgaria, Italy, France and other countries.

The events on the occasion of the anniversaries and the International Award "Nikola Gyuzelev" in its fourth edition in 2021 will be held as follows:

On November 3 and 4 screenings of films about Nikola Gyuzelev and a meeting of his colleagues and students with the audience, on November 3 in the Aula of Sofia University "Kliment Ohridski" from 17:30. and on November 4 at 19:00 on the Small Stage of the Sofia Opera.

On November 5, 2021 at 17:30 in the central Lobby of the Sofia Opera and Ballet will be opened an exhibition of paintings by Nikola Gyuzelev, who is also an academic portrait painter, then from 19:00 on the Grand Stage of the Sofia Opera and Ballet will begin the official evening in its first part with the presentation of the International Award "Nikola Gyuzelev 2021" to the new winners, accompanied by congratulatory addresses of official guests. The same evening in its second part will continue with the opera and music concert of the winners of the award, accompanied by choir and the orchestra of the Sofia Opera and Ballet under the direction of M° Sergio Oliva, winner of the International Award "Nikola Gyuzelev" in 2017.

The new laureates are four opera singers with talent and a brilliant international career - mezzo-soprano Mariana Pencheva, baritones Dobromir Momekov and Marian Jovanoski (both graduates of Nikola Gyuzelev), bassist Dimitar Stanchev, as well as the brilliant Austrian conductor M° Gustav Kuhn.

The events on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of Maestro Nikola Gyuzelev are realized with the support of the Nikola Gyuzelev Foundation, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia Opera and Ballet in cooperation with the Italian Cultural Institute, Pavlikeni Municipality, State Institute for Culture at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Biennale of Artemis from Rome and under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria.
