IN SEARCH OF THE BULGARIAN ROOTS IS THE FIRST NOVEL OF VASILEN VASEVSKI - BULGARIAN ARTIST FROM CHICAGO

An interesting and dynamic discussion as a result of Prof. Vasilen Vasevski's new book, "Roots", which will be presented on July 22 at the Peroto Literary Club.

The book was presented by the writer Yoto Patsov, who knows well the work of the author and Snezhana Yoveva, director of the State Institute for Culture at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who congratulated the artist for his tireless activities among the Bulgarian community in Chicago.

Vasilen Vasevski was born in 1969 in Sliven. He graduated from the Academy of Arts in Sofia and is a professional artist with over twenty years of career. His works, appreciated by viewers and art critics, can be seen in various galleries in Bulgaria and around the world. He has also worked as a journalist in various media and has so far published several books of short stories, essays and travelogues: "To your doorstep - before the feelings grow old", "The track left in me", "A feat comes to life. Kaymakchalan and the European War through the Eyes of Descendants ”(co-authored) and others. “Roots” is his first novel. In it he reveals his long-standing interest in national and tribal history. Vasilen Vasevski has lived in Chicago for more than 20 years, where he teaches drawing at Harold Washington College, actively participates in the Bulgarian community in the United States, organizes a number of exhibitions, book presentations, discussions on historical topics and more.

Special guests of the event were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mrs. Zaritsa Dinkova, who awarded a diploma to Prof. Vasilen Vasevski on the occasion of his efforts to promote the Art Fund at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the donation of the painting in 2020 for its enrichment. Mrs. Dinkova congratulated and thanked the artist. Also present were Ivan Anchev - General Consultant for Bulgaria in Chicago from 2016 to 2020, Elisaveta Shapkareva - President of the Association of Macedonian Families, Zdenka Todorova, writer and public figure from Tsaribrod, Western Suburbs, representatives of the State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad, representative of the Union of the Reserve Army, Bulgarians from the USA, scientists, historians, journalists. The book was printed by Potayniche Publishing House, supported by the director Hristo Patsov.

The event is part of the State Institute for Culture's "Writing Diplomats" program.
