International Exhibition "Brave New Earth: Looking Forward through Memories" Shows Contemporary Bulgarian Artists in Berlin

In times of huge changes for humanity, it is relevant to think about what we would do differently if we had a second chance. Picking up the pieces and coming up with new perspectives and visions for a future, where the past is no longer applicable, where the old solutions are no longer relevant to the new problems of society. Through reconsidering the relationship between different groups of people in a global village and the relationship between the global society with nature, we are able to imagine truly novel models of life on Earth.
The exhibition "Brave New Earth: Looking Forward through Memories", which will open in Berlin on July 2 at the gallery of the Association of Berlin Artists and will last until July 18, is a form of dialogue between nineteen authors, some of which are native Berliners: Sigi Torinus/Andrea Sunder-Plassmann, Birgit Maaß, Siegrid Müller-Holtz,Peter Schlangenbader, Jutta Barth, Marianne Gielen, Sebastian Kusenberg, Ina Lindemann, Sabine Schneider, Simone Kornfeld (curator: Simone Cornfeld) and the others are artists of Bulgarian origin, who are based in Berlin and are part of the new Berlin art scene: Zoran Georgiev, Zara Alexandrova, Vikenti Komitski, Elena Kaludova, Veneta Androva, Marta Djourina, Elizabeth Thallauer, Iva Vacheva, Ivan Kostolov (curator: Nia Tabakova).
How do we deal with a catastrophe? How do we begin to imagine life after an apocalypse? What are the steps to starting anew? How can memory teach us and help us live in a better future without repeating the same mistakes over and over again? - these are all questions that will serve as the building blocks for thinking about this exhibition.
The event, which was planned for 2020, but was postponed because of the pandemic, is part of a project for cultural exchange between the Association of Berlin Artists, the State Institute for Culture under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Berlin.
