Virtual initiatives for the celebration of 24th of May

19/05/21

The State Institute for Culture to the Minister of Foreign Affairs has prepared two virtual initiatives to greet Bulgarians and friends of Bulgaria around the world on the occasion of May 24 - the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture and Slavic literature.

With the support of the Bulgarian National Television, the documentary ‘Walking on Miracles’, by Boyko Vassilev and Hrisimir Danev, will be available on the YouTube channel of the Institute from May 22 to May 25. The film is about the life of Saint Clement of Ohrid, his unbroken spirit, enthusiasm and will to finish the mission. St. Clement was both a teacher and a student, but also a bishop, poet, and leader. The story is about a journey through time, but also in Ohrid, Kostur and Sofia, in the Albanian and Slovak lands and walking through the wonders of St. Clement.

The second digital initiative, specifically developed for the holiday, is part of the partnership between the State Institute for Culture and the ‘Read Sofia’ Foundation. A bilingual video was made for the celebration of the Bulgarian letters, telling the story of the project with the art installation 'The Bulgarian Letters / The Hidden Letters'. The project took place for the first time in 2018. It represents 12 benches in the form of unique letters from the Cyrillic alphabet, each of which is related to a poem by a contemporary Bulgarian poet and translated into the respective language. The video is about the story and the path of the art installation, how the letters are made, their "life" in Sofia and Plovdiv and their extremely successful international presentation "The Bulgarian letters" in Paris, Rabat, Berlin and Budapest.
