The exhibition ‘Biogram Blueprint’ of the multidisciplinary artist Eli Joteva had its opening on the 4th May this year at the ‘Photon’ Centre for Contemporary Photography’s gallery in Ljubljana.  As part of the initiative, ‘Dialogue of Artists’ Joteva was presented alongside the Slovenian artist Jost Dolinsek. The initiative focuses on emerging artists from Central and Eastern Europe and Austria.

E. Joteva and J. Dolisnek visited ‘Photon’ as finalists of the competition ‘Different Worlds’ (in 2018 and 2020) in the category for contemporary photography. The organisers of the exhibition have picked the two artists, because of their common approach to photography and their innovative technical decision-making. Along with ‘Biogram Blueprint’ in the Slovenian gallery is exhibited the installation ‘Zero point field’ by the Bulgarian artist. The two artworks explore the digitization of the organic structures with the aid of specter of invisible light. The artist aims to raise the question about the correlation between the virtual and the real. There are also 3D portraits of four types of plants, observed by E. Joteva.

E. Joteva was born in Sofia in 1990. She is based in Bulgaria and the USA. The visual artist has graduated Fine Arts at the University of Southern California. She is a lecturer in Los Angeles and a curator to multiple virtual exhibitions. E. Joteva is known for her artwork crossing the boundaries between art and science, in which she implements new art techniques and bio-feedback technology. She invents new experimental photography, audio-visual installations, digital and sculpture mediums, 3D-interactive projects and others, in which through bio-sensory instruments she explores the relationship between biological and technical memory, leaving beyond the limitations of the human-centered eye. Besides in North America, she does both solo and collective exhibition in Europe and America.

The exhibition is open for visitors every weekday from 21st May – 12:00 to 18:00 (following anti-epidemic measures). Gallery ‘Photon’ is located on Pl. ‘Prekomorski brigadi’ 1, Ljubljana – in close proximity to cinema ‘Shipka’. Entrance fee is 1 euro.
