Bulgaria Celebrates 30 Years of Membership in the International Organization of Francophonie

17/03/21

Every year on March 20, the world community celebrates the International Day of Francophonie. The celebration was introduced in 1988 as a means for the member states of the International Organization of La Francophonie (IOF) to celebrate what they have in common - the French language and shared values.

For Bulgaria, 2021 is more special, as our country celebrates 30 years of joining the IOF.

At the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the special assistance of the State Institute for Culture, an easily recognizable visual identity was created to shape the materials and communicate the events related to the anniversary. The author of the logo is Prof. Georgi Pavlinov Pavlov, lecturer at the National Academy of Arts in poster and visual communication.

The proposed logo builds on the emblem and colors of the International Organization of La Francophonie and, like any brand, conveys messages to the public: the values, vision, mission and activities of Francophonie. The colors green, yellow, blue, red and purple symbolize the five continents of the planet, where French is spoken and to which the member states of the IOF belong. White is a symbol of peace. The circle - a stylized image of a planet - brings together countries and peoples, uniting them in understanding and harmonious cooperation through a common language and shared values.
