Nominees for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA) 2021

263 authors, illustrators, oral storytellers and reading promoters of children's and young adult's literature from 69 countries are in the running for the he Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award 2021, including 63 entirely new names.

The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA) is the world's largest award for children's and young adult literature and was established in 2002 by the Swedish government to commemorate writer Astrid Lindgren. The award, which amounts to SEK 5 million, is given annually to authors, artists  and organizations, regardless of their language or nationality, whose work is characterized by high artistic quality. The award is administered by the Swedish National Council for Cultural Affairs  and has so far awarded twenty laureates.
