THE EXHIBITION "MANDALA - THE TEMPLE OF THE MYSTERIOUS TANTRA" CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY OF THE BILATERAL RELATIONS BETWEEN BULGARIA AND MONGOLIA

An exhibition presenting a variety of Buddhist paintings "Mandala", called by the Mongols "Painting of sacred objects", was opened today in the representative parts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event is an initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Mongolia in Sofia in partnership with the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Mongolia in the current 2020.
Among the guests present were the Ambassador of Mongolia to Bulgaria HE Mr. Dashjamts Batsaykhan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Milen Lyutskanov, Mr. Hristo Polendakov - Director General of Bilateral Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Petar Nikolaev from the East Asia, Australia and Oceania Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Mr. Pencho Ivankin, Honorary Consul of Mongolia and Konstantinos Fasoulis, Secretary of the Embassy of Greece in Bulgaria. Mrs. Snezhana Yoveva-Dimitrova, Director of the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs, congratulated the guests, emphasizing that “cultural diplomacy is one of the main tools for achieving understanding and interaction between different communities, and such initiatives not only inform us about the cultures, traditions of other nations, but also motivate us to share this knowledge. "
Greetings were also presented by HE Mr. Dashjamts Batsaykhan, Ambassador of Mongolia to Bulgaria and Mr. Hristo Polendakov - Director General of Bilateral Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who stressed the good relations between the two countries.
The exhibition "Mandala - the temple of the mysterious tantra" presents images of Buddha statues, Buddhist texts and paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries, architectural masterpieces of the Chojin Lama temple complex. The Buddhist temple complex was built between 1904 and 1908 and is a masterpiece of architecture and an invaluable heritage of Mongolian history, religion and culture. Photographs of 17th-century bronze statues of Buddha can also be seen in the exhibition, as evidence of the peaks of Mongolian foundry art, the roots of which can be traced back to the Bronze and Early Iron Ages.

The opening was held in compliance with all requirements for distance and disinfection.
