Sixth Annual Festival of Bulgaria in Keio Floral Garden "ANGE" in Tokyo

On October 17 and 18, 2020 in the park Keio Floral Garden "ANGE" in Tokyo for the sixth consecutive year was held a Festival of Bulgaria dedicated to the Bulgarian rose In the exhibition hall of the park were exhibited photos of Bulgaria; men's and women's folk costumes provided by the embassy; Bulgarian embroidery provided by Mrs. Iren Yamami, a specialist in Bulgarian embroidery; homemade spices, pastries and a collection of handicrafts provided by the Japanese artist Chicago Sato.

The festival program included concerts by the amateur Japanese folk groups "WHEN" - for Bulgarian folk dances, and "Spring" - for Bulgarian folk songs. The performances of the ensembles were accompanied by a presentation of the different folklore regions in Bulgaria and the peculiarities of the Bulgarian folk music and songs.

Iren Yamami and Chicago Sato held separate seminars on Bulgarian embroidery and colorful salt making on both days of the festival.

The lectures were given: "Tourism in Bulgaria, history and nature" with a lecturer Mrs. Elena Kutsarova, translator at the Embassy in Tokyo; "I love Bulgaria! Relations between Bulgaria and Japan ”with a lecturer Mr. Antonio Angelov, a Bulgarian working in Tokyo.

Visitors to the festival had the opportunity to try Bulgarian dishes and Bulgarian yogurt provided by the Meiji Corporation, as well as to buy traditional Bulgarian souvenirs. On the evening of October 17, a presentation of Bulgarian wine provided by the Global Arena company took place, as well as Bulgarian dishes.

During the two days the Festival of Bulgaria was visited by a large number of guests. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the festival, which is traditionally held every year in May, was postponed to October, and this year was held without the participation of guests from Bulgaria.

The festival was organized by Keio Corporation, the railway company serving the Keyo and Inokashira lines in Tokyo, which owns the park, C-Quest and the embassy in Tokyo.
